Steve Carell desperate to work with Meryl

Steve Carell joined the cast of his latest movie when he knew Meryl Streep was on board – and totally ignored the script in the process.
The Hollywood funnyman has appeared in a range of romantic comedies including Date Night and Crazy, Stupid, Love. He is starring as Dr. Feld in Hope Springs – a comedy drama based around a long-term couple seeking marriage counselling.
The film also stars Meryl and Tommy Lee Jones and Steve says the subject matter was of no interest to him, despite appearing in a string of similar hits.
“I will be honest with you, the reason, and the primary reason I wanted to do this movie is that Meryl Streep was going to do this movie. I didn’t even know what the movie was about, I hadn’t read the script, but I saw that she was going to be in this movie and I was completely in,” he told Moviehole.net.
“The subject matter was obviously important but a little bit more of an afterthought.”
Steve has revealed what working alongside Meryl and Tommy was like. The 49-year-old star was in awe of the two Hollywood icons.
“There’s no rumours in the making,” he laughed.
“Meryl is, apart from everything you’d expect her to be, she just loves acting so much. She’s so passionate about it, and there’s a joyfulness to every take she does. Tommy is incredibly focused and a very graceful actor. It was an honour really to be in a scene with them.”
