Christian Louboutin v/s Yves Saint Laurent concluded.

The battle between French footwear designer Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent has finally come to a conclusion favoring Christian Louboutin after a period of a year. It began when Louboutin who is well known as the holder of his signature shiny, red-lacquered soles decided to sue Yves Saint Laurent, dragging the company to the U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

Today Christian Louboutin has finally won the lawsuit with support from a New York federal court of appeals that overturned the previous decision reached by Judge Victor Marrero. Also, as per the verdict, the red sole is entitled to limited trademark protection, applicable to a red lacquered outer sole with the shoe itself contrasting in color.

A designer cannot however be dragged to court for creating a completely red shoe with a red sole, as was the case with Yves Saint Laurent’s creation. In all, Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent both have something to rejoice about with the court’s verdict seemingly favoring both.

However as far as the customers are concerned they can rejoice too as this verdict came upon as an exception to the rule which states that when the shoe itself is red in that instance, a rival may match the color of the sole to the color of the shoe.
We keep hearing about such conflicts from the glamour world where two brands initially begin with war of words which sometime turn out to be extensively rude and upsetting. Such act happens to divide the reacting people into the group of two with each set taking side of their favorite designer.

However in this case both the parties have the reason to feel happy due to the neutral verdict passed by the court letting the respective followers of both the side to bury their differences as well. Though we all don’t wish to encourage such events but even such circumstances arise we hope the end is as convincing as this.
