Melanie Tusquellas—of Silver Lake’s Edendale Grill—and Dave Neupert—of Echo Park’s The Shortstop among others—are both former music executives who share a passion for rejuvenation and adaptive reuse. They partnered to buy the unusual property that many would have torn down for the location.
Tusquellas, whose family still operates the famed Bob’s Donuts and Tusquellas Seafoods in Los Angeles’s Farmer’s Market, has commented that, “I came here as a child and my grandfather knew the owner. They sold to us because they knew we would keep the tradition up,” He also added, “That’s why Silver Lake is so special—we are a community of individually owned business strung together that have a lot of integrity.”
There is renovation going on inside the property. According to the sources, a new gourmet Mexican store named “Hecho” is coming soon as a part of the property.
