Elvis Presley’s old Bible was auctioned for a whopping $94,600
One of the most popular American singer Elvis Presley of the 20th century was a cultural icon and was often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King”. Although the artist demise happened long back in 1977 but his fame and popularity never came to an end as people seems to be as crazy as ever about their most favorite singer. The intensity of people’s obsession for Elvis can be witnessed through the auction of Elvis Presley’s old Bible which was sold for a whopping $94,600.
More than 100 Elvis memorabilia pieces were placed on sale at the Omega Auctions website. But the Elvis Presley’s old Bible gained all the attention at auction in Greater Manchester which shows the way people wish to connect and memorize this legendry singer. Items such as sunglasses, underpants, watch, hair and a Piano were some of the other items included for the auction.
The star seller Elvis Presley’s old Bible is a 1,600 page book that contains handwritten notes by Presley and was given to him by his Uncle Vester and Aunt Clettes for his first Christmas at his Graceland home in 1957. Auction site also states that it was Elvis Presley’s most precious book throughout his life from Christmas 1957 to that final day on 16th August 1977 and he read and wrote in this Holy Bible over many years.
Though it was estimated to fetch about £25,000, the holy book sold for more than double its value. Karen Fairweather, from the auctioneers quoted, “There were three rival bidders on the phone and once it got over £20,000 each bid was taking a while, because they each had a price in mind for the bible and they were thinking about it.”An American man based in the UK won the aggressive telephonic bidding.
Though the buyer’s exact identity is yet not revealed but we are sure the Bible which he’s got is in great condition would look good in any collection..
