The Sheraton is been rewarded as the most sought-after luxury hotel brand on Internet in China.
It’s interesting to note that the interests of the oriental world are much different from that of the western world. According to the latest report compiled by Geneva-based luxury market research firm Digital Luxury Group (DLG) called “The World Luxury Index China: Hotels” which has conducted research over more than 170 million Internet searches from January to March 2012 have concluded some really exciting updates.
The searches made in simplified Chinese or English revealed that Sheraton ranks top of the list, taking up 13.58 percent of the overall searches. Sheraton’s advantage lies in the fact that it was also the first western hotel brand to begin operations in China in 1985 and it happens to be the most searched for hotel.
The list of top 5 hotel brands followed by Sheraton in top place is Hilton, Shangri-La, InterContinental and Westin respectively. The report also includes three location-specific rankings, with the most popular hotel brands in Shanghai, Beijing and Chongqing.
