The German designer launched her namesake women’s ready-to-wear line in 1973 on the Milan runway, after designing collections for her own boutique in Hamburg for five years.

And, considering the fashion house’s popularity with celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Kanye West amongst others, we are not surprised that the Jill Sander store in SoHo has already run out of the $290 paper bag. “I think it’s more of a fashion statement,” Mildred Fabian, regional director of the design house said.
Jil Sander has been a byword for cool minimalism since the designer founded her eponymous label in 1978. Since 2005, highly acclaimed Belgian designer Mr Raf Simons has been at the helm, innovating but staying true to the original principles of faultless quality and aesthetic restraint.
