The luxury car company Chevrolet is offering a new pick up to the car lovers, High country, to its Silverado series of pickup trucks. Chevrolet is launching this new pickup in order to compete against the luxury pickups offered by the Ford Motors and Chrysler. In recent times, Ford has disclosed its redesigned F-150 King ranch, which is priced of around $44,000. In the previous year, Ford has also added a new luxury pickup; Limited to its F-150 series of trucks and their price is more than $50,000. Recently, General Motors also has a very limited contribution in the luxury pickup segment which is mainly through Sierra Nevadi. In order to offer an opportunity for General Motors to offer pickups in the premium price of category, the top Silverado costs mid-$40k range.
Lately, the luxury pickups have been gaining a strong and firm ground with the customers. In the year 2011, there were 13% of Chrysler’s light duty Ram pickups which were priced at more than $40,000 in comparison to 9% of the light-duty in the last year. Ram pickups sold were priced at more than $50,000 in comparison to 22% in the previous year.
In the year 2009, Ford introduced the high end Platinum and they had the expectation that the vehicle to make up for 3% of the total F-150 sales. Later the fact was quite surprising that Platinum has been time and again accounted for 6% of F-150 sales in total, 30% of Ford’s pickup sales embraces luxury trucks which are usually priced north of $35,000.
For the past 30 years, Ford’s line of F-series has been leading the pickup truck category in the US. Chevrolet’s Silverado series occupies the second spot with sales of little more than 261,000 units for the same period.
However, General Motors is in the last phase of its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado series and exposed the new design photographs. It is the first time that the automaker has redesigned its Silverado series since 2006.
