Nardin’s timepiece created in Johnson’s honor

This year luxury Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin and brand ambassador, Randy Johnson unveiled “The Big Unit”, a new, signature timepiece which is being created in the honor of Johnson just in time for the start of the Fall Classic. Founded in 1846, Swiss Watch Manufacturer Ulysse Nardin has been dedicated to excellence for over 166 years in manufacturing mechanical watches. Among the most reliable ever made, Ulysse Nardin’s marine chronometers are still being wanted by many famous collectors from all over the world. Ulysse Nardin continues to be in the front seat of the watch making technology by pioneering new materials and also manufacturing high precision movement components and most innovative timepieces.
“The Big Unit” chronograph is a perfect pairing of sport and style, which is monochromatic in rich black with an intonation of blue and red. The “Big Unit” has 45.8 mm diameter case which is made from stainless steel, coated with rubber and finished with a sapphire glass case back enhances its ability to withstand the most challenging environments. This particular famous timepiece also presents a special personalized chronograph seconds hand adorned with the iconic baseball symbol and inscribed with the name “Big Unit” and the number 51 on the bezel to honor the legend. There are only 100 pieces of the watch which will be made and it will be available at select boutiques in late 2012 or early 2013.

We feel it truly conveys the remarkable qualities of precision and excellence in this elite athlete.” The piece was officially unveiled on October 25 in New York City at a private event. All the guests present at the show were the first to see the newest timepiece in person and “catch” the World Series broadcast with the legend himself. Johnson exclaimed “I am honored that Ulysse Nardin completely embodied my taste in ‘The Big Unit’. It’s exciting to have a watch named after you, but to share that and the game I love with fans, plus raise money for charity, is amazing.”
