CalmSpace is a stand alone, “plug & play” power nap capsule, designed specifically for the office environment by Marie-Virginie Berbet. CalmSpace attempts to fill this gap by allowing individuals a relaxation space to refresh, relax, and re-energise to be ready for productive activity.
The user can select a power nap period from 10 to 20 minutes, including preset sound and light cycles that will let the individual to fall asleep and wake up smoothly. CalmSpace has been developed by Haworth in cooperation with Zyken, who provided scientifically-validated light and sound technologies. It is made of dark grey-blue coloured composite material with acoustic foam used between the internal and external skin. Haworth tested a prototype of the CalmSpace concept at the call centre of France Telecom Orange in Lyon in 2011. Now, Haworth is extending CalmSpace’s approach to the everyday work environment.
Haworth exhibited CalmSpace at Stand B70 in Hall 6 at Orgatec 2012.
