Kenneth Cole. When we hear the name, we can remember the face of an American clothing designer. Like many of America’s most successful designers, Kenneth Cole also had a very humble beginning. Born in Brooklyn, New York in the year 1954, Cole started his own company in 1982. Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. is an American fashion house founded in 1982 by Kenneth Cole.
After spending most of his money making shoes in Europe, Kenneth Cole returned to New York and filed for a film permit under the name Kenneth Cole Productions. With that permit, he was able to park a trailer in the city and began selling his shoes on the street. Years later, he’s a retail success with his Kenneth Cole New York and Kenneth Cole Reaction lines. Most recently, he celebrated his latest line, Kenneth Cole Collection, a high-end, high-design addition to his stable of brands.
While the spring collection’s got a modern-urban feel that embodies the Kenneth Cole aesthetic, the designer also made lots of references to North African and Middle Eastern design with plenty of layering and lots of intricate beading. According to the sources, Kenneth Cole Collection will be available in next spring at Kenneth Cole retail locations.
Kenneth Cole designs men’s and women’s footwear, men’s and women’s clothing, and also accessories under the Kenneth Cole Reaction Line. Overall, Kenneth Cole Productions sells clothing and accessories under the following lines: Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction, and Unlisted. The company now operates over 90 retail and outlet stores worldwide, and sells in catalogs and websites. Kenneth Cole controls almost all of the voting rights and 45% of the company. In 1994, Kenneth Cole went public, and has been included on Forbes annual list of 200 Best Small Companies four times.
